As graduation approaches, seniors at Pen Argyl Area High School finished one of their final events together, the Senior Dinner Dance. The event took place on Monday, May 11, from 6P.M. to 9 P.M.
The Senior Dinner Dance gives members of the graduating class an opportunity to celebrate their high school years and spend time together before graduation. Unlike other school dances, the event is exclusively for seniors, making it a more personal experience for the class.
When asked if students should expect any changes from previous years, Krista Campbell, senior class advisor, said the tradition will remain mostly the same, noting “It’s the same menu, The same DJ, just new seniors."
Campbell explained that the event is about giving seniors one final opportunity to connect before moving on to the next chapter of their lives.
Campbell said, “It’s a nice evening with only members of their class. They get to spend a little time together before graduation, when they all go their separate ways.”
Senior class officers have also played a major role in organizing the event. Senior class vice president Addison Manning said students have helped make important decisions throughout the planning process.
Manning said, “As a class officer, we got to plan the food and desserts for the dance. We also talk about our location for the dance and how much we want to make the tickets.”
In addition to organizing the event, class officers worked to make the evening memorable for seniors. Manning shared that a slideshow featuring photos from throughout high school will be shown during the dance.
Manning said, “I’m currently working on a slideshow with a bunch of photos from all of the seniors in the grade. It will play on the TVs in the lounge as a nice way to look back on our memories from high school.”
Manning believes the Senior Dinner Dance is an important tradition because it gives seniors a chance to reconnect with classmates before graduation.
Manning said, “This dance is all about connecting with your grade. Every dance has all of the grades, but this is special because it is just us seniors.”
Manning also reflected on how meaningful the event can be as graduation gets closer.
Manning said, “Sometimes it’s hard to put into perspective that soon, we won’t be sharing the school year with the same people we’ve known since kindergarten. It’s a nice way to connect and make memories before we all graduate.”
The Senior Dinner Dance offers seniors one last opportunity to celebrate friendships, reflect on memories, and spend time together before beginning the next stage of their lives after high school.
