On April 24 Pen Argyl students had a roaring good time at prom, just west (egg) of Indian Creek at the Woodstone Country Club.
Each year, prom is planned, paid for, and set up by the junior class officers. This year, Brody Hannick, Alex Ferrel, Jaelyn Smith, and Taylor Rose were behind it.
Hannick, president, said “[the officers] chose the theme because of how it mixed several different themes together. We also all agreed that black and gold would be a good aesthetic for prom.”
Smith, treasurer, said “It was overall enjoyable to plan. All four of [the officers] pretty much agreed on everything and we all had good ideas.”
The aforementioned venue was also where prom was held in 2024.
Rose, secretary, said “Though we didn’t pick the venue, I’m still happy with the choice. It’s a beautiful place and has a great balcony view.
The prom venue is typpically secured by the junior class advisor two years in advance.
Students entered the PAHS parking lot for pictures before being bused to the venue.
At the dance, attendees were served several different snacks, an Italian meal, and an ice cream bar, one of the many surprises of the night.
Other surprises of the night included a french fry bar, with two kinds of fries and all types of toppings, and a fireworks display at the end of the night while, fittingly enough, Firework by Katy Perry played.
There was also a special surprise just for Allison Ceasre, freshman class advisor. This marked her last prom before retiring, so everyone thought it was best to send her out with a bang.
Close to the end of the night, the prom court came to the center of the room to find out who would win prom prince, princess, king, and queen.
The prom prince court included junor boys Chris Crespo, Brody Hannick, Reid Kotulka, Trexler Moore, and, the winner, Liam Ramautar.
Ramautar said “It’s an amazing rush of emotions being named prince. It shows how high my peers hold me.”
The prom princess court included juniors Angela DiPalo, Kayla Gloth, Joslynn Greenwood, Jaelyn Smith, and, the winner, Valery Cardenas.
Cardenas said “It felt really cool being prom princess. I never thought in my life I would ever win something like that, but it’s nice knowing I can look back on it in the future.
The prom king court included seniors Isaiah Adams, Terrell Estes, Evan Johnson, Mason Soos, and, the winner, Fletcher Marsh.
Marsh said “I, of course, feel very honored to be named prom king. It was a great feeling being named as such, and knowing that I have many friends who believed I deserved it means a lot to me.”
The prom queen court included seniors Ella Davis, Amber Gallagher, Addison Manning, Ashlyn Oessenick, and, the winner, Aubrey Jones
Jones said “I can’t even begin to express how it feels, but I guess the best word for it is grateful. I really do appreciate all the people who voted for me and it definitely changed the experience of my last prom. This was the high school experience I hoped for.”
Next year's prom will take place at Woodstone Country Club on Friday, April 30. The Class of 2028 will be tasked with hosting the event.
