On January 23, Pen Argyl held the annual Winter Paint Night. Like many of Pen Argyl’s events, it served as a way to raise money for Four Diamonds Mini-THON®.
Participants were taught how to paint a wintery scene on a canvas bag. The scene included pine trees, snow fall, and even a cardinal.
Carlena Alfred, senior, said “I think the most fun thing about paint night is seeing everyone's different designs and how everyone uses their own creativity to take the design we came up with and make it their own.”
Natalie Eibeck, junior, said “I think events like paint night give people something fun and creative to help donate to a great cause.”
The event wasn’t just enjoyed by students.
Dailynn McKeague, third grade teacher, said “I wanted the opportunity to connect with coworkers in a relaxed and fun setting. It was a great chance to laugh, be creative, and see everyone’s artistic abilities come to life. Spending time together outside of the typical school day helps strengthen staff relationships, which ultimately benefits our school community as a whole.”
Cassidy Tabor, second grade teacher, said "I enjoy painting in my free time, and love to support a great cause. I think it is important to host events like paint night for fundraising opportunities as it allows the community to come together and be aware of the events going on throughout the district.”
A similar event, Spring Paint Night, will take place in May, also to raise money for Mini-THON.
