Swimming is a newer program at Pen Argyl Area High School, they practice at Wilson High School’s pool due to Pen Argyl not having a school pool.
Peyton Dewalt has been swimming at Pen Argyl Area High School since 2024. She received the Shining Knight Award and a Varsity letter for swimming last year. This is her 2nd season swimming at Pen Argyl though she has been swimming more than seven years.
When asked how she got into swimming she stated “My parents put me in swim lessons when I was a baby and later when I was around 8 years old. I was a runner for years, but I wanted to try something new, and one of our family friends introduced us to her swim team, which I have been swimming for ever since.”
She feels her biggest accomplishments are placing 6th in 100 fly and 10th in 500 free at districts last year, as well as qualifying for districts and Silvers in general.
She made it to districts and qualified for the 100 butterfly, 200 IM, and 200 freestyle. She is allowed to swim in two events and went for the 100 butterfly and 200 IM and placed 3rd in the fly and 7th in the 200 IM.
She is not swimming in college, but she fully intends on staying active and exercising in the pool.

A newer student in the program here at Pen Argyl, Oliver Palmer-Gaugler, has been swimming for nine years, since he was seven years old when his parents signed him up where he “found his love for swimming”.
This high school season his biggest accomplishment was a Sub 1.02 in the 100 free. He feels he “improved a lot throughout the season” but did not make districts. He plans to make more progress next season by starting liftinging, and continuing to swim over the summer.
