On November 17, Pen Argyl High School celebrated being named a National School of Character. Seventy one schools were named this year, so many students and staff believed this to be a huge achievement.
Carlena Alfred, President, said, “Miss Campbell and the officers juggled around a ton of ideas until we came up with a few that we thought were entertaining while still teaching about character.”

Knights’ Order President, Carlena Alfred, speaks to Pen Argyl High School students about the Character Education club. This is her first year being President of the club.
Many students thought the idea was nice, Kelsie Uhler, junior said, “I really enjoyed spending time with my friends, and getting a day off from school work.”
The day started with an assembly at the end of block one where the Knights’ Order officers and previous members of the Knight’s Order spoke on the background of the Character Education Club, and what an honor it was to be named a National School of Character.
Ella Davis, Vice President, said, "It means a lot to us to be named a National School of Character. We have worked hard and students before us have worked hard to make this a place that excels in good character. The fact that we are one of nine schools, and the only one in Pennsylvania, makes us feel good. It also makes us feel proud that we can make a difference.”
The students went back to class for a short amount of block two. During block three, the students competed with other block three classes to see who can solve an escape room the fastest. After the students had lunch, they went to block four for a few minutes, and then had another assembly.
At this assembly, the students engaged in fun activities. They answered trivia questions, danced, and there was a photobooth for people to take pictures with their friends.
