The team currently has a record of 2-1. Suffering their only defeat to their rivals of Bangor on Wednesday, January 7. They have beaten Southern Lehigh and Salisbury to preserve their winning record. On January 14, they competed against Wilson Area, which some also consider to be a rival.
They have also competed in two invitationals and two tournaments. They placed third and sixth in their two tournaments. And seventh in one of their tournaments.
Collin Ramsay, senior and first place winner in the Christmas tournament, said “I believe our team will do great things for the rest of the regular season, and follow with a spectacular post season.”
Many members of the community also believe that this season will be promising for the wrestlers. Rich Hannick, Pen Argyl sports announcer, said “We have a lot of kids that have been wrestling together for a long time. I am no expert when it comes to wrestling. I have been around this group for quite a while and I can say that they have a bond that can not be matched by any other team.”
The wrestlers have two more matches, a tournament, and regionals. Luca Albanese, senior, said “I think our wrestling season will be successful as long as we all improve as athletes and people.”
PIAA AA Championships take place Thursday March 5 to Saturday March 7. The team is very hopeful for the rest of their season.
