On September 22, students of Pen Argyl Area High School were able to submit their own designs for the annual Pen Argyl vs Bangor 106th football game apparel. The amount of submissions that went through were beyond the amount that Nolan Gerencser expected. Before any submissions were submitted Amber Krisukas and Gerencser, Principal and Vice principal of PAHS respectively, ensured that every sketch fit the appropriate standards. When all was said and done Gerencser and Krisukas gathered a select group of student advisors to pick the winner.

Brody Hannick and Kayla Gloth, the winners of the Beat-Bangor contest received four free tickets to the Bangor game and four free T-shirts. Gerencser says “I am always in awe of our students' artistic talent, and I wanted to allow that talent to be on display in a very exciting fashion.” The Slate Belt Rivalry has been occurring since the year 1920. Since then it has been one of the main traditions that Pen Argyl and Bangor still proceed to do to this day.
Hannick says “It feels very rewarding to know that our idea/design was able to beat out the competition and that the Pen Argyl community gets to wear our work to the most attended football game of the season.”
Students can be seen walking down to the bonfire, pep rally, and at the rivalry football game wearing the attire. Something as simple as a t-shirt brings unity to PAHS every school year at this time of year. Past PAHS alumni can be seen wearing their t-shirts proudly in the stands and pep rally along with current students. This shows once a Green Knight always a Green Knight!
